Well people -- I just got my copy of Destination Salem for the year. I have to say that it is MUCH better than last year and the year before. There are several pictures of witch related things in the book, and a lot equality amongst the witch/maritime stuff. I would say even that they witchy stuff is catered to more. The center page that was dedicated to the Ho7G last year and the PEM the year before is a huge two page ad for the Witch Museum (I think the weakest of all Salem's museums) --...

So limehead's take on the Poe Museum's tour guide led me to opening this thread.

Whose got the best/worst tour guides?

The best tour guides I have had was on the Ghosts and Graveyards tour in Boston. Yeah, they had some of their information wrong, but they had a theme going and they were all very entertaining. But to be fair, they were all actors too.

In Salem, the best tour guides I have encountered were in the Pirate Museum. They spit out the usual info like any of the...

Witch Dungeon is worth checking out. It seemed so dark and damp down there! It's disgusting how many people they would stuff into one tiny little cell, and charge them to "stay" there! If you don't have time to hit all the attractions, check this one out.

My sister and I were in Salem this past May and we took Mollie Stewarts haunted footsteps tour. We loved it. At one point, I actually thought there was "something" behind me,(I was sure I was the last in line) turns out it was just some people who were on the tour with us!! hahahaha! This was BEFORE having a cocktail scarily enough! Her tour should not be skipped. She is an awesome storyteller.

Also, Mollie talked of her new museum opening, I can't wait to see the museum now...

I have to say that in my few years of going to Salem, I certainly have some favorites when it comes to the haunted attractions.

As far as tours go, the Jim McAllister tours are pretty good and the guy's a good storyteller. Althought, I haven't been on his Witch Trials Trail tour. The Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour is pretty good as well and I felt as if the tour guides were knowledgable.

However, my favorite tour continues to be the Spellbound Vampire and Ghost tours.
